If you’re on Facebook and follow Ortensia Blu (you do, right?) you’ve seen lots of really nice photos and videos from my trip to the gorgeous Prosecco region earlier this month. And if you’re not on Facebook, I don’t want you to feel left out so I’ll catch you up on a few things.
First of all, we have a few spaces left on our tour of the Prosecco area, north of Venice, September 13-19, 2015. The adventure that Monica, Cristina and I have put together will be beyond fabulous and I encourage you if you’re thinking about a special experience, this is the one to book. Full details of the trip, including registration info are here but let’s look at a few highlights:
Albergo Al Sole, a charming five-star boutique hotel in the center of the walled city of Asolo will be our home for six nights and five days (this means no packing and unpacking).
Prosecco is obviously a big part of this adventure and we begin where it starts…in the vineyard. Our timing is perfect as we arrive right in the middle of Vendemmia, the grape harvest. And the winemaker will pour for you…
(Listen closely for the birds and the bubbles…doesn’t get much better than this, does it?)
And the food! Oh yes, the food – a lot of time goes into planning every meal with regional specialties so fabulous, they’ll be in your taste bud memories forever.
We’ll cruise the Sile River into the Venetian Lagoon in our own boat. A stop on the island of Burano with all the dazzling, brightly colored houses will be the perfect setting for our Venetian seafood lunch.
You’ll have time to explore on your own each day, so make sure you perch yourself at an outdoor café, sip a bubbly Campari or Aperol Spritz and enjoy the people watching.
And you want to learn how to prepare some of this amazing food, right? Daniela, with her beautiful vegetable and herb gardens, incredible fruit trees and clucking chickens, will show us how it’s done in her own kitchen. Roll up your sleeves and put on your apron because we’ll all be cooking.
But wait, there’s more! A guided tour of the historical city of Treviso, which has incredible shopping. Fresh, same day buffalo mozzarella cheese is amazing and as we taste and savor, we’ll learn all about what makes it so special. Tour a generations old ceramics factory in the town of Bassano del Grappa, an area renowned for classic Italian ceramics.
Did somebody say Grappa?? A jaunt through a Grappa distillery, especially during the grape harvest is a real treat, especially sampling a few of the many varieties.
I sincerely hope you’ll come with us and experience our Prosecco adventure together. Go to Ortensia Blu Italian Adventures and take a closer look. Feel free to email me at Laney@Ortensiablu.com or give me a call if you have questions or just want to chat about the trip.
I’m not just enthusiastic about travel—I live travel, each and every day. From plotting out my clients’ next great escape, to logging airmiles on my own adventures (I always have a suitcase packed and at the ready!), travel drives me in everything I do.
I’ve learned a few things along the way, and I’d love to share them with you. Learn a bit more about my journey to founding my own travel agency—it involves quite a few glasses of Italian wine!
